See "How To Discern Truth From Error" booklet for more details & resources

It's very rare, but sometimes necessary to add some commentary of my own to this site.
I've had a chance to learn and gain some perspective on the nature of man, since this site opened almost 2 years ago.

As most of you know, I've come from a place of being deceived (for my own personal story on deception "click" learn more or visit thelightofdeception.com on the top of this page) and with that deception came a time of much confusion.

From My The Light of Deception Facebook Site

During and after this time, I became extra vigilant on checking teachers, authors, presenters backgrounds to be diligent on making sure this same deception didn't repeat itself or worse.
Not that I'm perfect in doing so by any means, but at least trying to cover all bases.

For the last 5+ years, I've become a researchers. I've taken Christian materials presented by pastors, teachers and authors back to the root of why or from what perception the person is writing from.

It's given me some insight into how easily man can be swayed by cunning slight of hand word twisting.
Not that the person teaching or presenting the material even set out to do so, but their slight changes or twisting of the meaning of the biblical text (to cater to their topic) has or could lead to such error.
Some are knowingly adding, twisting and taking from scripture, but some started off steadfast and fell into error along the way.

I've come to believe, none of us are without error and therefore, checking to see if a man's error is dangerous is assental in the life of every believer.
None of us are all knowing, we can only see in part.
With this in mind, I've come to the conclusion that even the best of teachers, with the best of attentions, need to be researched and all content offered by them needs to be check with the Word of God.

Many steadfast Bible teachers would encourage you to do same. Even with their own material.

Here are some simple questions to ask when getting started in research

1. Who is the author, teacher or presenter
2. What is their reason for writing or teaching
3. Where did they go to college/school and what church do they attend or did they attend
4. When did they start writing or teaching
5. Why are they so popular or well known (or the opposite)

Lots of who, what, where, when, why questions.

With this research, you can find out so much about a persons intent and purpose for writing or teaching before you ever lay your eyes or set your ears to their material.

Could save you a great deal of heartache.

After checking their background and you still feel safe about moving forward into their material.
Check everything they say or write against the Word of God.
There always seems to be truth within the lie or some lie within the truth. Either way, safeguard yourself with the Word of God and prayer.

Be armed, it's a battle and it's not getting easier.

I can so relate. As a brand new Christian, the church I was in quickly slipped into Inner Healing and psychology. Lots more to tell, but when your faith is in Christ for everything, you're full of Joy
